[Women's Cross Country] Women's Cross Country finishes fourth at Tabor Cottonwood Challenge

NEWTON – The Kansas Wesleyan Women's Cross Country team placed fourth in the Tabor College Cottonwood Challenge on Saturday at the Harvey County East Lake.

 

Tabor usually runs its home cross country meet at Cottonwood Point at Marion Lake, but the area remains closed due to flooding from over the summer and with the more recent rains in the area.

 

Sophomore Stephanie Martinez (SO/Horizon City, Texas) continues to shine for the Coyotes leading the way, finishing third with a time of 19:40.90 in the 5000m race. Tabetha Deines (SO/Salina, Kan.) was next for the Coyotes in 12th with a time of 21:26.21. Jessyka Barten (FR/Woodbine, Kan.) was 21st with a time of 22:07.91, Bailie Troll (SR/Clearwater, Kan.) was 23rd with a 22:21.38, Cindy Sheaffer (FR/Oberlin, Kan.) was 24th with a time of 22:34.81, Jadin Bezdicek (FR/Jackson, Minn.) was 25th in 22:43.04 and Regan Rhodes (FR/Mullinville, Kan.) was 26th in 23:05.14.

 

Avila's Tenka Stringer was the individual champion with a time of 19:30.42. Avila also won the team title with 50 points.

 

The Coyotes are back in action in two weeks at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open in Victoria, Kan.
