MARYVILLE, Mo. – Several top performances by both the Kansas Wesleyan women and men helped the Coyotes post a seventh place finish for the women and a tenth place finish for the men at the KCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held on Friday and Saturday at the Hughes Fieldhouse at Northwest Missouri State.

 

The Coyotes brought home a pair of gold medals as both the women's and men's distance medley relay teams finished first. The women's team, consisting of Bailie Troll (JR/Peck, Kan.), Makenzie Tucker (FR/Grantville, Kan.), Tabetha Deines (FR/Salina, Kan.) and Stephanie Tucker ran a time of 13:16.07 for an eight second win. On the men's side Jacob Lovell (SO/Junction City, Kan.), Lane Peters (FR/Scandia, Kan.), Michael Sarafin (SR/Peyton, Colo.) and Kaeori Giron (FR/El Paso, Texas) ran a 10:34.41, leading the Coyotes to a nearly seven second win.

 

Makenzie Tucker had a fantastic meet for the Coyotes. The freshman finished third in the pole vault, clearing 2.82m and also took third in the 600m with a time of 1:43.93.

 

Stephanie Martinez (FR/Horizon City, Texas) posted a third place finish in the 3000m run with a time of 10:55.77.

 

The women's 4x800m relay team of Martinez, Deines, Troll and Tucker also finished third with a time of 9:58.94.

 

All the above performances received All-KCAC honors.

 

In the 5000m Kaeori Giron was sixth with a time of 15:41.95 and Jacob Lovell was seventh with a time of 15:44.22. In the 3000m, Giron was fifth with a time of 9:02.01 and Lovell was sixth with a time of 9:04.60.

 

Troll posted a seventh place finish in the 1000m for the women with a time of 3:26.70.

 

The men's 4x400m team of Lane Peters, Elijah Davis (SO/Fort Worth, Texas), Jonathan Samayoa (SO/Columbus, Neb.) and Tyler Logan (SO/Loveland, Colo.) placed eighth with a time of 3:30.57.

 

All the above performances earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors.

 

In the long jump, Adam Schroeder (SO/Midlothian, Texas) placed 13th with a jump of 5.78m, and Richard McCauley (FR/Edmond, Okla.) was 15th with a jump of 5.50m.

 

Natalie Soukup (SO/Ellsworth, Kan.) placed 17th in the weight throw with a toss of 11.85m.

 

In the 60m preliminaries Peters was 10th with a 7.13, Davis was 23rd with a 7.32, and Schroeder was 28th with a 7.52.

 

In the 5000m Sarafin was 17th with a time of 17:02.11, and Loewer was 21st with a time of 17:24.10.

 

In the 200m, Peters was 11th with a 22.98, Davis was 21st with a 23.59, Logan was 31st with a 24.41, and Schroeder was 32nd with a 25.03.

 

In the shot put, Soukup was ninth with a throw of 11.40m, and Hannah Walter (SO/Lawrence, Kan.) was 25th with a throw of 9.22m. H Venerable (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) was 25th for the men with a throw of 10.36m, and Darrius Brown (FR/Fort Worth, Texas) was 27th with a throw of 9.05m.

 

In the Mile, Loewer was ninth with a time of 4:44.70, and Leonardo Terrazas (SO/Dumas, Texas) was 14th with a time of 4:59.08.

 

Tyler Logan was 16th in the 400m with a time of 54.43.

 

In the 600m Samayoa was 16th with a time of 1:31.01.

 

In the 800m Deines was 11th with a time of 2:37.64 and on the men's side, Sarafin was tenth with a time of 2:08.07.

 

In the 3000m, Terrazas was 21st with a time of 10:15.73.

 

On the men's side in the final team standings, Saint Mary was the meet champion with 185 points. The Coyotes were tenth with 23 points, tied with Sterling and just a point and a half behind Bethany.

 

The women's champion was Friends with 224 points. The Coyotes were seventh with 36 points, while Southwestern was eighth with 32 and Bethany was ninth with 29.
